Reasons to select a Corporate MBA program

The Corporate Master of Business Administration (CMBA) is an increasingly popular option for ambitious leaders in the corporate world. Before you pick a program, learn what you can expect from the degree.

Improved skills

As with any course of study, a primary goal for many students in a Corporate MBA program is to develop their skills in relevant aspects of the corporate world. Many programs focus on leadership and teamwork skills as well as helping future corporate leaders learn to strategize and innovate.

Networking and connections

While the Corporate MBA program is designed to offer a full education within the curriculum, many students are also attracted by the benefits they enjoy outside the classroom. Especially by attending a more prestigious MBA program, you will get the opportunity to network with other ambitious, corporate-minded individuals. In the long run, these connections may help you even beyond what you acquire from the textbooks.

Resume building

Wherever you choose to study, putting "MBA" on your resume can immediately bring your name to the top of the pile. According to the Washington Post, over 40 percent of graduates from such programs were promoted upon completion of the degree. Weighing the cost of tuition against the higher earning potential of a promotion, many individuals assess the training to be a worthwhile investment financially. While better-known institutions often have higher tuition fees, they can boost your earning potential even higher than schools that don't have as much name recognition.

Company sponsorship

In essence, Corporate MBA programs are designed for individuals who are already familiar with the corporate world and who wish to rise higher. As such, it's common for working individuals to find sponsorship or tuition reimbursement from their employers so they may pursue their MBA alongside their regular full-time work. Many companies are glad to make the investment. Doing so can build employee loyalty and morale while improving their overall workforce and developing leadership skills, so they may promote from within for future leadership positions. Naturally, a Corporate MBA program is not a magical resume-booster, and it's no substitute for real-world corporate experience. However, considering some of the potential benefits of attaining the degree, it's no wonder that so many mid-level professionals pursue further study to rise in their companies. Given the growing trend toward MBA degrees, acquiring one may even be considered crucial in the eyes of more competitive recruiters.
